Supporting the next generation.

SgSI supports the travel costs of members in good standing who are presenting their research at international meetings and congresses.

Award amounts

The award depends on where the conference is held:

  • Asia & Oceania — S$1,500
  • Africa, Europe, North & South America — S$2,500

The 2026 call closed on 31 July 2026. The next call will be announced on the news page.

Eligibility

  • You are a current SgSI member, currently residing in Singapore.
  • The conference is held outside Singapore.
  • You are giving a poster or oral presentation.
  • The conference starts at least two weeks after the application deadline and within one year of the award date.
  • Awardees of the current call are not considered for the next call.

How to apply

Download and complete both documents, then email them to enquiry@sgsi.org.sg before the deadline:

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Allow time for email delivery delays before the deadline. Successful applicants are notified by email about two weeks after the deadline, and results are posted on this website.

If you receive an award

Acknowledge SgSI's support and display the SgSI logo on your poster or slides. Within one month of the conference, send the society:

  • A short meeting report (250 words) on your experience and how it benefited you.
  • Photos of you presenting your poster or talk.
  • Receipts for economy airfare by the most direct route, registration and accommodation, up to the award amount. If your expenses are lower, SgSI reimburses the actual amount.
  • The name to be written on the cheque and your mailing address.

The report and photos are shared on the SgSI website. Funds are disbursed within one month of receiving all documents. Failing to meet these terms may result in the award being withdrawn or future applications being declined.
